These safety protocols will guide the district through a return to in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year, starting February 16.
Mental Health
The mental health of students, staff, and parents is of utmost import during the pandemic. Families have access to SPS school counselors and additional community resource, while SPS employees can utilize the Employee Assistance Program as well as community resources. Assistance programs are confidential.
Learning Options
Stillwater Public Schools is incorporating a variety of types of learning to address student and family needs for the 2020-2021 school year.
Traditional Learning - In person instruction at school facilities with additional health and safety measures including preparation for Distance Learning which will be enacted only during school closures and much improved over the Spring 2020 experience.
Virtual Learning - Full-time online learning
Hybrid Schedule - Allowing for some virtual courses and some in person instruction
Health and Safety Measures
Student and staff health will be at the forefront of every decision
CDC guidelines will serve as the basis for daily operations, school closure, and safety procedures.
CDC states school district can determine, in collaboration with state and local health officials to the extent possible, whether and how to implement CDC guidelines and considerations while adjusting to meet the unique needs and circumstances of the local community.
SPS developed a task force, consisting of district teachers, staff and administration, local health officials, and government officials, to provide leadership in determining and reviewing process and procedures related to COVID19.
SPS is consulting with Stillwater Medical Center team on policy/procedure review and general guidance regarding questions about COVID19.
As face coverings are one of the most effective methods to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Stillwater Public Schools will require students, staff, and visitors at school sites to wear face coverings. We encourage families to talk about how face coverings work to protect our community and to work with children to get used to wearing a face covering.
All SPS students will be receiving one washable cotton face covering. We also encourage families to acquire additional face coverings for convenience and to allow their children to identify a style/pattern they are comfortable wearing and that allows them to express their personality.
